Adam Ant first rose to fame as the lead singer of his band Adam and the Ants. There were two iterations of the group. The first released the album Dirk Wears White Sox, before former Sex Pistols manager, Malcolm McLaren, swept in and took the Ants to serve as the backing band for a new singer, Annabella Lwin, eventually forming the group Bow Wow Wow. A new version of Adam and the Ants was subsequently formed and they released two albums before Ant decided he wanted to pursue a solo career.
