The album was released by Def American Recordings, a label created by Rick Rubin after he left Def Jam Recordings, and the title of the album was inspired by a classic blues song written by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician, Elmore James. The song was considered a setlist staple for many of the Crowes’ live shows, however a recording of it did not appear on the album.
